Biography

Robert Earl McIntyre is a self-taught artist driven to find expression for the natural beauty he finds in his everyday world. Growing up in Hammond, LA, Robert graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University with a degree in Industrial Technology. After graduating he entered the military. Upon completion of military service, he took part in a program designed to help soldiers move back into real life by encouraging creative expression.  He found expression through wood carving.   Residing in the Pacific Northwest, Robert continued to develop his skills.  Taking advantage of the natural resources and the historic traditions of the area, he  began incorporating traditional Native American techniques in his work.  Robert Earl, as he became known professionally, was able to fulfill his need to celebrate the beauty of life.  He gained recognition with his carvings being exhibited in galleries, shows and private collections throughout the Pacific Northwest

Eventually returning to Louisiana, Robert continued carving and exhibited both locally and in the Northwest.  Constantly developing as an artist, in recent years he has turned to watercolor as his medium of expression. He uses mainly earth tones to exploit the unique characteristics of watercolor in continuing his life’s work of communicating the beauty of life. His current work focuses on the Gulf Coast region, capturing its inhabitants in their natural environment. Subjects include wildlife, individuals, architecture, and landscapes. Robert Earl, as he is still known professionally, can be contacted through the Contact link on this site.
